The Bene Israel community in the United States number about 300 mostly in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey & Connecticut. They conduct Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur services in the Bene Israel tradition of India. They also celebrate Simhat Torah. Hanukkah, Purim, Passover & Shavuoth.

The next Hanukkah celebration is being held on December 28th 1997 at Community Hall, 303 West 66th Street,New York. N.Y. from 5.30 p.m. onwards. $15 for adults, $8 for children 6-12 years. Last date for receiving subscriptions is December 20th.1997.Checks to be made out in the name of Erna Weber Daniel.

The music of the Bene Israel is being preserved in the form of two cassettes released recently by Romiel Daniel. The first is an audio cassette entitlied "Yom Kippur & Selichoth Melodies of the Bene Israel Jews of India" and the second a CD entitled "Shabbat Shalom from India."
